Naturally, we cannot share too many details about the crucial elements of our game yet, but let us explain our approach through the analysis of our interpretation of Ghibli’s art style. We spent several weeks testing different textures, post-processing, researching movies and other stylized games, and after some deliberation we were certain that we want Ghibli style in our game. This means textures that are simplified in a painterly, but not cartoonish, way.Careful selection of colors that inspire certain emotions and are determined by the frames from the film.Layers of vegetation, painted with a blur and scarce details (unless the element plays an important role in biom/frame/POI, etc.).The sky and backgrounds being of crucial importance in terms of creating the character and the atmosphere of the fictional world.Mutable environments the physical world is responsive to and transformed by our actions.Ghibli movies are known to utilize elements both from Eastern and Western cultures and thus reach wide global audiences. We also strive for similar diversity, which will aid us to explain the world, e.g. we might use urban planning of a medieval European city and mix it with the elements of Eastern architecture and artifacts. The use of colors in Ghibli movies is consistent night and day frames often share the same color palette, and the range of colors changes depending on the emotion they are intended to incite.Stone materials: Ghibli uses many flat surfaces. This workshop will provide an overview of the various ways in which ATLAS.ti can be used in the analysis of qualitative data material. This is possible by means of a citation level, an additional tool that softwares other than ATLAS.ti do not offer.ĪTLAS.ti supports a range of methodological approaches – from interpretative to hypothetical-deductive. Of course the software also includes tools that are more targeted at the methods at the other end of the spectrum. However, we cannot promise to teach you the complete operation of the software - including setting up a methodologically reasonable coding system – within three hours.ĭuring the workshop, you will gain some firsthand practical experience and get a feeling for how to work with ATLAS.ti. Additional materials and links to free digital resources for further learning will be provided during the workshop. Please note: The presentation in the workshop refers to ATLAS.ti 8 for Windows. As a Mac-user, you are also invited to participate, since most of the process steps are transferrable. Please note: We kindly ask you to bring your own laptop. Link to the demo version: /free-trial-version/į4transkript & f4analyse for transcribing and analysing qualitative interviews If you have not installed a license for the most recent version of Windows or Mac, please use the demo version (valid without time limit). The workshop aims at providing information on the transcription of interviews and the current situation of automatic voice recognition in general, and on the softwares f4transkript/f5transkript and f4analyse. Moreover, the workshop will provide an exemplary insight in the actual realization of the particular processes of different methodological approaches when working with f4analyse.įirst, the workshop is about transcribing with f4transkript and relevant specifics such as scientific regulations, expectable errors, realistic time-management, timestamps, dealing with overlappings, synchronisation between various programmes, and voice recognition. Then, we will give an introduction into f4analyse. This includes: memos as research tool for case summaries, definitions, using interpretations and theoretical ideas inductively or deductively developing category systems and assigning them to text passages conducting analysis processes comparing cases and groups filtering code relations searching data material and exporting citations and results to word and other programmes.įinally, we will show you, as an example, and depending on the composition of the group, how f4analyse can be used in various approaches of sequential analysis, grounded theory, metaphor analysis, content analysis or documentary method. Respective guidelines will be provided for free as handouts or publications.
